In 2016, the United States Department of Energy launche the Exascale Computing Project
to accelerate delivery of a capable
exascale computing ecosystem for breakthroughs in scientific
discovery, energy assurance, economic competitiveness, and national security.

the ECP projects. Work is coordinated by the Steering Committee:

The scientific work is organized into four groups, Software (Carleton
DeTar, group leader), Solvers (Rich Brower), Critical Slowing Down (Norman
Christ), and Contractions (Robert Edwards).
